Activities Obedience classes - I love working with my basenjis, training them and seeing them give their all! Both of them have participated in puppy obedience classes. Zomba has taken one additional obedience course, plus one course in agility. Each course consisted of 12 lessons. You call really see when the dogs enjoy themselves and do a good job! Lure-coursing - Tindra and Zomba are two of the few dogs that have taken their lure-coursing license and they are very good at it, I might add! They certainly enjoy “hunting” the lure. They have participated in lure-coursing racing since the early Spring of 2003. As a matter of fact…..Tindra and Zomba competed in the very first LC race - a historical start for basenjis here in Sweden! Basenjis are undergoing a trial period of 3 years - as lure-coursing dogs, which is otherwise dominated by the “sight hound group”. Tindra was the first basenji in Swedish history to receive an “unofficiell Certificate “!! Zomba was runner up and I am so very proud of them both!
Bilder>>>> The showring - They are show dogs as well. I love showing them and I do believe that they are doing very well in the showring. Just the excitement of driving to a big show, knowing that they might win, meetingother basenji friends, sitting by the ringside waiting for our turn and finally getting to show the dogs! What could be more exciting?? Win or lose, you know that you always have the best dogs in the world! I suppose that it is the excitement of it all that keeps me coming back for more. Exercise and mental training - Kenneth takes the dogs out for weekly runs, once or twice a week. They run on forest paths at our local nature reservation, Lövhult. I enjoy long walks with the dogs in the city or out in the country, in the forest, as well as bicycle rides around our neighborhood.I take the dogs for walks in town sometimes, just for the environmental training of it all. I believe that basenjis especially need lots of stimulation, exercise and new challenges to make then the happy and content dog that they were ment to be. “An activated basenji is a happy basenji!”
